How is speaking time different from reading time?
Speaking time uses 130 words per minute as the baseline — the average comfortable speaking pace for presentations and speeches. Reading time uses 200 wpm because silent reading is faster than speaking aloud. A 1,300-word speech would take approximately 10 minutes to deliver.
Why does the word counter not include very short words in the frequency analysis?
Words fewer than 3 characters (a, an, it, is, etc.) are excluded from the Most Used Words chart because they are function words that appear frequently in all text and rarely provide useful insight into the actual content or themes of the writing.
